MAMo: Maoli Arts Movement

In 2005, the PA‘I Foundation, with partner Bishop Museum, successfully organized and implemented a month-long celebration to highlight native Hawaiian arts, artists and cultural practitioners called Maoli Arts Month (MAMo). PAʻI re-branded MAMo in 2015 to “Maoli Arts Movement.” MAMo programming will still be celebrated during May in Honolulu with popular exhibitions, arts markets, trunk shows, and the extraordinary MAMo Wearable Art Show. MAMo programming has expanded to the entire year, and our geographic reach has expanded to neighbor islands (Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi, Maui), nationally (Alaska, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, Texas), and internationally (Aotearoa, Austria, Germany, Japan).
