Meet Darren Walker, VP of Ford Foundation

Darren Walker, VP of Ford Foundation, stopped by the PA’I Arts & Culture for a visit with Vicky Holt Takamine and other community leaders. Darren leads the Ford Foundation’s Education, Creativity and Free Expression program. As vice president of one of the foundation’s three major programs, he guides grant making in public education reform, higher education, arts, media, sexuality and reproductive health and religion.

Ford Foundation is supporting the work of PA’I to strengthen our native Hawaiian community. Funding from Ford has helped support our “discovery” work with Artspace for pre-development planning for an affordable housing for artists, the establishment of the PA’I Arts & Culture Center in Kapālama Shopping Center, arts management training with Michael Kaiser, president and CEO of the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and distance learning project with Artspace, MAMo: Maoli Arts Month and as well as administration.
