MAMo Native Hawaiian Art Exhibit

Title: MAMo Native Hawaiian Art Exhibit
Location: Wailoa Art Center Gallery-Hilo, Hawaiʻi
Description: “Kuhi no ka Lima, Hele no ka Maka” is an exhibit of contemporary artists with strong connections to Hawaiʻi Island. The participating artists are well known in their fields, which include: kapa making, ipu dyeing, lauhala weaving, photography, pen and ink drawing, painting, printmaking and mixed media. Although, Hiko Hanapi passed on last year, it was felt that including his artwork would make for an even stronger exhibition. While PAʻI has been showing kanaka maoli artists on Oʻahu for five years, this year will make six years, this will be the first time PAʻI will present Hwaiʻi Island artists on Hawaiʻi Island. After this showing, majority of the work will be moved to the PIKO Gallery in Waimea.
